The Counsel of Peace between God and His Son
๐
Introduction โ The Forgotten Foundation of Redemption
Before sin entered the universe, before humanity existed, and before the plan of salvation unfolded in history, Scripture reveals that heaven itself entered into a sacred agreement called โthe counsel of peace.โ ๐ The prophet Zechariah declares:
โจ โAnd the counsel of peace shall be between them both.โ โ Zechariah 6:13
This remarkable statement opens a window into eternity past. ๐๏ธ Redemption did not originate as an emergency reaction to sin but as a deliberate covenant formed within the divine relationship itself. The Bible consistently presents this counsel as occurring between two persons โ the Father and His only-begotten Son.
Throughout Scripture, salvation is repeatedly described as the work planned by God the Father and carried out through Jesus Christ His Son:
๐ โGod so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Sonโ (John 3:16).
๐ โThere is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesusโ (1 Timothy 2:5).
๐ โTo us there is but one God, the Fatherโฆ and one Lord Jesus Christโ (1 Corinthians 8:6).
The language is simple, consistent, and relational. ๐ค The Father is the Source of all, and the Son is the divine Agent through whom redemption is accomplished.
The counsel of peace therefore reveals something profound about the Godhead: salvation was not negotiated among three co-equal beings, but established in loving unity between the Father and His Son, joined in purpose, character, and divine nature. ๐ The Son alone could enter fully into the counsels of God because He proceeded from the Father and shared His life and authority.
Understanding this restores the biblical picture of God โ not an abstract philosophical Trinity developed later in church history, but a living relationship of love between a real Father and a real Son, into which humanity is invited. โค๏ธ
โจ THE COUNSEL OF PEACE BETWEEN GOD THE FATHER AND HIS SON
We are told of a โcounsel of peaceโ that was made in Zechariah 6, and that counsel of peace was made between TWO divine beings โ God the Father and His dearly beloved Son Jesus Christ. Sadly, the false trinity god teaching has destroyed this precious truth in the minds of many professed Christians. โ ๏ธ Let us therefore look carefully at this counsel of peace and unwrap this beautiful truth that has been lost in many churches today.
Before the foundation of the world was laid, God the Father planned to save us through His Son Jesus Christ. ๐โจ (Ephesians 1:3-6)
๐ Ephesians 1:3-6
...'Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ...'
๐ โBefore the foundations of the earth were laid, the Father and the Son had united in a covenant to redeem manโฆโ

In Zechariah 6, the Bible calls this plan โthe counsel of peace.โ There are only two divine beings who made this plan: the Father and the Son.

๐ Conclusion โ The Counsel of Peace Reveals the True God
The counsel of peace is more than a prophecy; it is a revelation of Godโs identity and the foundation of the gospel itself. โจ Before the world began, the Father and the Son united in a covenant of love to rescue humanity. The Father gave; the Son willingly offered Himself. โค๏ธ Redemption was born from their shared purpose and mutual self-sacrifice.
Scripture repeatedly emphasizes this divine partnership:
๐ The Father sent the Son (John 17:3).
๐ The Son came to do the Fatherโs will (Hebrews 10:7).
๐ Through the Son, humanity is brought back to the Father (John 14:6).
The phrase โbetween them bothโ is deeply significant. It points to two divine participants in the eternal plan of salvation โ not three indistinguishable persons, but a Father and His begotten Son acting in perfect unity. ๐๏ธ The Holy Spirit is revealed as the presence and Spirit of God and of Christ working within believers to apply redemption.
Thus, the counsel of peace harmonizes with the consistent biblical testimony:
โ
One God โ the Father, the source of all.
โ
One Lord โ Jesus Christ, His divine Son and mediator.
Recognizing this restores the simplicity of apostolic faith and the relational beauty of the gospel. Salvation is not an abstract formula but the expression of living divine love โ a Father who gave everything and a Son who gave Himself completely. โค๏ธ
And through that eternal counsel, humanity is invited into the same fellowship:
โจ โThat they may be one, even as we are one.โ (John 17:22)
The counsel of peace therefore stands as eternal evidence that redemption flows from the united heart of the Father and His Son, revealing the true character of God and calling believers back to the original biblical understanding of the divine family. ๐ฟ
